Attempted assassination of a Russian general; suspicion points to Syrian extremists

Moscow: An attempted assassination targeted a senior Russian general, Colonel General Vladimir Alekseyev of the Russian Ministry of Defense, in northwest Moscow. Reports indicate that an unidentified assailant fired several shots at a residential building on Volokolamsk Highway before fleeing the scene. The general was taken to the hospital, and an investigation has been launched.

The assassination attempt comes days after groups loyal to the Jolani terrorist regime circulated Alekseyev’s photo and fabricated accusations against him, falsely claiming he was supporting Alawite groups in Syria. In reality, the general serves on the negotiation committee with Ukraine and is the deputy head of Russian military intelligence.

A conversation that was promoted as an “agreement” with Mohammed Jaber was, in fact, Jaber’s last-minute attempt to seek assistance, which was met with a firm response from the general stating that support had been provided before the fall of the regime and that positions were not maintained. Despite this, the extremist groups claimed the exchange represented Russian support for Alawites.

These groups, operating in the interest of the Jolani government, also falsely claimed that General Vladimir Alekseyev is the head of Russian military intelligence. In fact, the head of Russian military intelligence is Igor Kostyukov.

Observers said the assassination attempt appears to be part of an effort to conceal the falsifications and false accusations spread against the general by groups affiliated with the Jolani terrorist regime.
