🟡Residents of Alawite-majority neighborhoods in the city of endured a terrifying night on April 24, as militants from the HTS-led General Security spread through districts for unknown reasons.
🟡Karm al-Zaytoun: After deploying in the area, General Security gunmen, accompanied by Bedouin tribal fighters, stormed homes belonging to Alawite families in Karm al-Zaytoun. At around 3:30 AM, they killed two civilians, Alaa Nasr and Hussein Nasr, in their home. Their bodies were then dumped in the middle of the street in front of their house.
🟡Arbitrary arrests also took place during the night in the neighborhoods of Karm al-Louz, Al-Nuzha, Wadi al-Dhahab, and Tillo Street. Militants broke down doors, beat residents, and hurled sectarian insults.
🟡Wadi al-Dhahab: General Security forces raided the home of Ali Shallhoub, accusing him of being a former member of the Syrian Army. They threw grenades inside his house, killing him instantly. HTS-affiliated media falsely claimed that Shallhoub resisted arrest, a claim locals strongly denied. A widely shared image of his disfigured body inside his home shows no weapon nearby, undermining the official story.
🟡The raids coincided with a major disinformation campaign launched by pro-Jolani and official HTS media outlets. These platforms spread rumors about the presence of so-called “regime remnants” and “ISIS cells” in Alawite neighborhoods. Meanwhile, death threats targeting Alawites were shared on Telegram channels affiliated with HTS.
