Al-Jolani Appoints Former HTS General Sharia Official to Syria’s Supreme Fatwa Council
Al-Jolani, leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (), has appointed Abdul Rahim Atoun, the former General Sharia Official of HTS and ex-Mufti of Jabhat al-Nusra (Al-Qaeda’s former branch in Syria), to Syria’s Supreme Fatwa Council.

Al-Jolani, leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (), has appointed Abdul Rahim Atoun, the former General Sharia Official of HTS and ex-Mufti of Jabhat al-Nusra (Al-Qaeda’s former branch in Syria), to Syria’s Supreme Fatwa Council.
Atoun, also known as Abu Abdullah al-Shami, was a key religious authority in HTS.
